On behalf of our client in Vancouver , Ignite Technical Resources is looking for a Datacentre Architect to join their team for a 6 month contract opportunity with a strong potential of extension for up to 3 years . Out of province candidates are encouraged to apply.

Ideally, our client prefers a professional consultant, former network/systems engineer with large datacentre experience who has come up the ranks into a Datacentre Architect role. CCIE Datacentre, and Routing & Switching certifications desired. Ideal candidate will have 3 or more datacentre relocations under his belt working in the architect role.

Responsibilities: Provide technical direction to meet business and technical needs. Provide expert consultation for major initiatives or projects. Produce and/or endorse technical standards along with Client’ Stakeholders Own the Data Center architecture, migration strategy and vision by working closely with both business and technical leaders in the company. Document the current and future solutions providing a consistent framework for the company. Collaborate and work closely with technical and business teams to align the platform with the needs, vision, and strategy of the company. Convey architecture strategy to leadership to assure alignment and influence long-term business strategy. Work with project team to identify areas where there may be integration, continuity, impacts, reuse, and dependencies with deployment efforts. Own and drive resolution of architecture issues for the data center. Key member of Datacentre Migration Governance team that approves design changes to ensure alignment with architecture strategy along with meeting high availability goals. Influence planning, prioritizing, initiating, and deployment of work efforts. Communicate with various audiences, such as business and technical leadership, to acquire acceptance and to articulate decisions for the datacentre architecture. Evaluate emerging technologies against technical, business and strategic needs. Develop and participate in the development of test plans for the testing of new designs and new products. Oversee the execution of design and product testing in POC environment(s) Analyze technical needs, requirements, and state of the data center infrastructure design, integration, and operations. Work with technical management to develop future-state datacentre architecture that effectively reflects business needs, service-level availability requirements, operational and other technology parameters. Develop design principles, models, plans, internal standards, budgets, and processes based on industry best practices and direct personal experience. Establish governing principles for datacentre architecture design and deployment Develop RFI/RFPs for project along participation in the selection of technologies and products for implementation Continually update understanding of business and technology status and objectives and respond to strategic design requests as the business & technical objectives evolves through the life of the datacentre migration project Develop designs, standards and guidelines. Assist in scoping and costing of datacentre migration projects Work with other SMEs and technical teams in the pursuit of optimizing future-state capacity and platform infrastructure. Produce technically superior solutions which are aligned with business needs and direction Develop short and long term strategic plans to ensure the platform architecture can scale to meet the capacity needs of existing and future requirements.
