As a member of the Workload Engineering team, the candidate will be responsible for deploying, analyzing, and optimizing key application software and foundational services software, running in IBM Cloud. The candidate will participate with a broader team in a hardware/software co-design process where the insights gained from software analysis and optimization will inform the evolution of our cloud data center hardware. We are looking for someone who is passionate about hardware and software performance, who loves to tackle challenging technical problems and to design innovative solutions. The candidate should have a demonstrated background in software performance analysis coupled with a good understanding of data center design and hardware infrastructure.

We are also looking for developers interested in helping to create next new generation of cloud environments via an openstack implementation. The candidate has proven coding skills and the ability to learn quickly.

Creativity and demonstrated communication skills are required.

Experience in the following areas is an asset:

  • Software performance analysis tools and methodologies experience
  • Demonstrated understanding of cloud fundamentals and service models
  • OpenStack and Docker experience
  • Bluemix experience
  • Foundational cloud software services
  • Familiarity with data center design fundamentals and modern hardware infrastructure
  • Proven programming skills in Python, PHP, Ruby, Node.JS, JavaScript, C, or Java
  • Linux OS
  • Understanding of Agile development

    Required

    • Bachelor’s Degree
    • At least 2 years experience in coding Python, PHP, Ruby, Node.JS, JavaScript, C, or Java
    • At least 1 year experience in software performance analysis tools and methodologies
    • At least 1 year experience in understanding of cloud fundamentals and service models
    • English: Fluent

    Preferred

    • Master’s Degree in Information Technology
    • At least 2 years experience in Linux OS
    • At least 1 year experience in understanding data center design fundamentals
    • At least 1 year experience in understanding of foundational cloud software services
