Job Summary
Reporting to the HR Director for the West region, the individual will be based in Vancouver and will provide support to managers and employees across the West region of Morneau Shepell. The individual will provide a broad range of HR services and support in the areas of employee relations, policy management, HR programs, performance management and training as well as supporting recruitment for key roles.
Due to the continued growth of the region this is a new position and the individual will have the opportunity to provide a wide range of HR Generalist support and will have a dedicated client base. They will also have shared support of an HR Analyst.
Responsibilities
Generalist
Responds professionally to employee & manager questions regarding employee relations, HR policies, HR programs & processes, and works with the HR Director to resolve complex, sensitive questions
Works with people managers regarding all employee priorities including employee engagement, performance management, individual development, & career progression
Drives and supports the Employee Engagement Survey action planning for the region
Assists with the annual performance management process, ensuring support and tools are in place and coordinating the timely completion and tracking of completed reviews
Participates and supports managers with the annual compensation review process
Supports the absence management program, which includes counsel/education to managers, analysis and reporting
Onboarding and Exit Interviews interpretation of information and supports managers with action plans
Ensures consistent communication with the Toronto HR teams on all matters pertaining to areas of expertise including talent management, total rewards, HR operations & recruitment
Supports the continued development of the employee onboarding program and conducts both formal and informal orientation sessions
Training and Development
Organizes and oversees training initiatives for managers and employees, including training programs to support and help management development
Along with the HR Analyst manages lunch and learn programs, including speaker and topic selection and feedback mechanism from employees and managers
Works with the HR Director in assessing learning and development needs for the region
Recruitment
Responsible for working closely with the recruitment team in Toronto and leading the sourcing and selection for key roles in the West
Special Projects
The individual will be involved in a wide range of HR related projects
Coordinates and supports West communication forums including employee town halls, information sessions and special events as required
Makes recommendations for improvements to human resource programs and processes
Requirements
5+ years experience in a related HR position
Post-secondary education and related courses in human resources
Demonstrated experience working closely with people managers and leaders to provide HR guidance and support
Exceptional customer focus with strong professional acumen
Excellent communication, project management, presentation and negotiation skills
Dedicated team player, highly organized, ability to take the initiative and be independent
Excellent time management skills and the ability to manage multiple assignments
Contributes to a professional, positive, results oriented team environment
A good understanding of personal computers and software, particularly MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Completed or working towards CHRP designation would be beneficial
