We are currently in the process of hiring a FULL TIME 1 YEAR CONTRACT Shipper / Receiver for the Winnipeg Location
Job Summary:
The shipper/receiver is responsible for taking part in receiving all forms of incoming lenses and frames. They are responsible for processing the product up to a point where each type of job is ready for start of order entry, production or invoicing (uncut). They must complete the receiving and processing tasks with accuracy and without delay. They are also responsible for invoicing uncut or E&M work, and preparing it for shipping thru the various couriers.
Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Take part to receive un-pack and electronically scan or enter all incoming orders, frames or lenses.
  • Sort incoming work, identifying new orders, frames to follow, third party coating work, RX or stock credits.
  • Receive frames for work in process (FMTC) into DVI system, accurately matching to the correct order, and label accordingly
  • Process RX credits for work in process where applicable, following SOP.
  • Take lenses received from outsource vendors to the holding area and match back to jobs paper or tray, and take to the next work station
  • Deliver new orders, frames or lenses, to the next work station with sense of urgency and prioritization
  • Identify urgent or problem jobs and make appropriate communications, verbally and/or electronically, and/or using standardized stickers or forms.
  • When necessary, use web access links to look up incoming or delayed shipments from outsource labs, in order to plan workflow.
  • Good working knowledge of DVI screens; competently processes all types of redo, credits, add notes, cancel jobs, tray change, account changes
  • Understands when jobs require a call to be placed to accounts and communicates to CCS appropriately.
  • Assist Customer Care, lab or other departments where needed.

Product / Technical Knowledge:

  • Strives to improve technical knowledge daily and continually applies that knowledge in the production of all eyewear.
  • Utilizes product knowledge to determine the best manufacturing process for routine and special orders in order to produce top quality eyewear.
  • Takes the initiative to notice and follow-up on discrepancies; suggests improvements; recommends solutions and does what is necessary to ensure customer satisfaction.

Qualifications:

  • High school graduate is the minimum education requirement
  • Optical background considered strong asset
  • Technically inclined/ machinery experience an asset.
  • Must be able to work in a fast paced high volume environment.
  • Experience that requires alpha-numerical recognition, interpretation and execution is an asset.
  • Must be well organized, have excellent time management and multi-tasking abilities, and have a heightened sense of urgency.
  • Continuous learning is a large part of this position, and therefore ability to retain varying degrees of information is required (significant use of memory)
  • Must have excellent communication skills (both verbal and written).
  • Must be able to work in a team atmosphere as well as an individual with minimal supervision.
  • Standing, walking, reaching and bending constantly throughout the day.
  • Low, moderate and high noise levels (not to exceed standards)
  • Near vision and sharp focus to adjust vision when doing close work.
  • Finger dexterity required to manipulate objects with fingers. Handling by seizing, holding, grasping, turning or otherwise working with the hands and fingers.
  • Will be going outside to receive shipments from lock box
  • Occasional lifting/ carrying 10 lbs or less, pushing/ pulling 30 lbs 0r less.
