The role of the Intermodal/Courier Coordinator is to support the day to day activity of the network. In this role, you will be responsible for coordinating activity on the rail lines, between The Home Depot Stores, RDC’s, SDC’s, BDC’s, and Cross docks, as well as Vendors. The role also requires the monitoring of activity, within the courier network, across all service points, domestic, and international. In addition to transportation, it also requires direct Store Support with service, as well as coordinating storage needs (seasonal/projects etc.).
The analytical aspect of the role involves connecting these major scopes of the network coverageby compiling data, performance, costs for the network, and how it relates to the Supply Chain as a whole. Metrics will be required to support the financial aspect of the network, and how it can help to further leverage improved cost reductions or performance.
The role of the Coordinator supports the administrative and operational reaches of the department.
Protect the flow of intermodal containers in the network, by ensuring that all origins are shipping accurately, and on time.
Support the creation of UPS accounts, for Vendors or as required.
Support a primary escalation point for service and network concerns related to Intermodal and Courier, as well as storage at stores.
Draft and maintain reports including; (weekly, monthly, quarterly, annually)
Intermodal log – CP RAIL cost, and performance.
Dwell logs – CP RAIL across all origins and destinations.
Track Carrier expenses – CLARKE, BISON, UPS, CP RAIL, KTL, and adhocs.
Network performance – UPS performance across over 1400 ship points.
Storage containers – Graystone assets and transportation to stores.
Draft and provide – Forecasts; Annual/Qtrly/Monthly/weekly. As required.
Analyze the updated results of each report, and how it impacts the network, or can enhance or support the network. Costs and Service being the driving factor.
Review at both macro and micro levels of lane and network reviews.
Provide the backup for the analytics.
Share reports and results with stakeholders as required.
Problem resolution of day to day challenges, by developing recommendations to action and, correct.
Communicate with stakeholders on status of any related operations or initiatives.
Meet and discuss service with UPS and CP RAIL on a regular basis
Support adhoc requirements to Supply Chain – disaster relief, labour disruption. (Natural disasters, Rail strike, equipment failures or surge in demands)
Perform regular audits on reports and processes.
Prepare forecasts of costs, long term as well as immediate potential.
Understand the rating structure to support auditing and approval of invoices.
Geographical sense of Canada including Provinces, Cities and Regions.
Intermediate level Excel
Supply Chain experience preferred.
Transportation experience preferred, but not essential.
Ability to understand rate structures, pallet, truckload and courier lane rates, fuel surcharges and accessorials, lane rates, fuel surcharges and accessorials.
Ability to communicate well and convey concepts/plans/strategies to others.
Experience with negotiation, (rates and services).
Pro-active Customer Service approach
Must be a Self Starter, and detail oriented.
Exceptional data management skills (drafting and analyzing metrics)
Forecasting, assets and expenses. (CP Rail forecast, Graystone forecast).
Ability to be creative and original with drafting solutions.
