Position:

Holland Imports Inc. is seeking an experienced Accounts Payable Accountant to join our growing team on a full-time, four-month contract (with the possibility of an extension) at our Burnaby, BC office.

Company:

Holland Imports Inc. has been in the wholesale distribution business since 1975. This family owned company and its affiliates, have over 350,000 square feet of warehouse space in Canada, with showrooms in Burnaby and Toronto.

Holland services over 2,500 retailers, carrying a large selection of home improvement products in both domestic and import brands.

Responsibilities:

  • Review, code, and enter invoices into the Company’s ERP system
  • Monitor due dates for invoices and ensure payments are made on time with the proper discounts taken
  • Prepare daily cheque runs and manage correspondences for credit card payments
  • Perform month-end payables closing duties including maintaining aged payables reports, investigating abnormal balances, recording month-end adjustments, and reconciling credit card accounts
  • Review and process intercompany payments and staff reimbursements
  • Maintain new and existing vendor information
  • Communicate with vendors and respond to vendor inquiries
  • Complete vendor credit applications
  • Reconcile monthly petty cash expenditures and ensure balance on hand is adequate
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Minimum two to three years of previous experience in an accounts payable role in a fast-paced environment
  • Basic accounting knowledge
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office including Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • Exceptional accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
  • Experience with NuPro or other ERP software considered an asset
  • Experience in the wholesale/distribution industry considered an asset

Compensation: $3,000/month
