The Program Officer for the Sesquicentennial Viewer Project will be an individual who is passionate about the work of Historica Canada and has had experience working with a team to achieve deliverables in a timely fashion. The successful candidate is highly organized, detail-oriented, an experienced budgeter and a strong communicator.

The responsibilities of the Program Officer include:
Coordinate the creation of learning tools, promotional material and other content for the Sesquicentennial Viewer Project ;

Coordinate the development of editorial content, workflow and consultant contributions for the production of learning tools accompanying a previously-produced sesquicentennial video;

Conduct outreach to schools boards and schools;

Coordinate relationships with historical and other consultants (translators, fact- checkers, copy-editors, etc.);

Support the Program Coordinator and Program Manager in the operations of the program.

Reports directly to Program Manager.

Other duties as assigned.

Qu alifications

A degree in History, Arts Administration or equivalent;

Excellent communications skills including written and oral skills;

Excellent research skills and attention to detail;

Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;

Excellent attention to detail;

Strong computer skills (Microsoft Office suite);

Strong knowledge and understanding of Canadian history, culture and current events;

Bilingualism (English and French) is preferred; ability to read French is required;

Professional working experience in the non-profit, heritage or education sector an asset.

Minimum 1 year professional working experience.

  • All French-speaking candidates will be assessed on their conversational French skills as part of the interview process to confirm proficiency as indicated on resume.

The salary for this position is $40,000 per year pro-rated to $20.50 an hour. Historica Canada’s regular work week is 37.5 hours from Monday to Friday. The contract end date will be Friday, December 22, 2017. All work must be done from the Toronto Office.
