General Job Description:

HPDS is a small private school that provides an alternative educational environment for a diverse population of elementary school aged students. We are inclusive and serve a population that includes exceptional learners. All HPDS staff work together as a part of a cooperative team to provide an extraordinary, engaging and rigorous and relevant education to all of our students. Fostering a culture of a caring community and supporting the social-emotional needs of the students is paramount to the success of our program. Skill-building and goal setting is an integral part of our program. As a staff member you will be required at some point to work with almost all of the students in some capacity, irrespective of your classroom assignment. You will work cooperatively in a team to create and maintain a positive school environment for all children, staff, parents and community partners. Staff must be open and willing to work and thrive in a dynamic, busy and demanding environment.

General Responsibilities:

  • Support social-emotional growth of students
  • Foster a culture of a caring community within the classroom and school
  • Write curriculum for Project-Based Learning theme units
  • Prepare differentiated lessons and lesson plans for all classes
  • Manage student projects during PBL
  • Support students in multi-age math classes using the Jump Math program (www.jumpmath.org)
  • Support students with individualized language programs
  • Participate in ongoing and meaningful assessment and reporting
  • Support students with goal setting and regular student conferences
  • Work cooperatively with all staff to support project development, meaningful reflection and professional goal setting
  • Regularly organize unique and relevant field trip opportunities
  • Contribute meaningfully to a positive school culture
  • Work with families
  • Photograph and blog student process and school activities
  • Work cooperatively in many areas of the school. For example:
  • Project development
  • Curriculum development
  • Community partnerships
  • Service projects
  • School growth
  • Parent and student support
  • Conflict management
  • Field trips and more

Job Type: Contract

Salary: $35,000.00 /year

Required experience:
