Position: Medical Laboratory Assistant
Department: Laboratory/ Surgical Pathology
Status: Part Time (must provide availability up to 0.5 FTE)
Hours: Monday to Friday – 7.5 hour day shifts (Hours subject to change based on operational requirements)

Responsible for all duties related to specimen collection and processing, data entry, referral specimens and office duties. Equipment cleaning and maintenance, inventory receipt, recording and storage, and other duties as assigned.Involves some lifting of heavier materials.
Halton Healthcare Services is seeking individuals who are competent in their chosen profession; patient/customer focused; team players; effective communicators; caring and respectful and are fiscally responsible.
- Laboratory Assistant Certification required
- 2 – 5 years recent experience in phlebotomy
- 2 – 5 years recent experience in a clinical laboratory setting
- Recent experience in a surgical pathology laboratory preferred
- Knowledge of laboratory computer systems
- Medical Terminology Certificate
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with the public
- Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English
- Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position
- Must be able to lift up to 40lbs
- Satisfactory employment and attendance record required
