An associate on our sales team, you’ll be working on building new business relationships and maintain existing ones. HackerNest offers sponsorship packages for the Tech Socials we run monthly in our 33+ markets, major cause-hackathon sponsorships, sponsor booths/tables at our Job Fairs, and endorsements for other programs centered around tech communities and causes around education.

This role involves working with the team on the coordinated effort to reach potential clients and sponsors, engage in research and identification of high-value markets and leads, and helping with analytics and reporting on our sales and business development activity to track the our performance as well as to inform the strategic growth of HackerNest. Key to this is also supporting our event organizers and producers in satisfying client needs as we run successful events that appeal to technologists and businesses that need to recruit developers, evangelize their products and services, and build brand equity at a grass-roots, community level. As part of the team, you will engage with our marketing, PR, operations, and strategy colleagues, so you will have great exposure across the organization.

You should:

  • be knowledgeable of the structure and current movements in the technology industry
  • have strong English written/verbal skills, with competency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Google Docs, Dropbox, and can learn new team management apps easily (we use Podio and Prosperworks)
  • have a compelling combination of business and academic experience. ~1 to 5+ years of experience in a sales/sponsorship, business development or nonprofit fundraising capacity within a team and possess a 2 year or greater college certification, diploma or degree in a business/communications/economics or related fields of study

Availability & Working with Us

This is a full-time contract position with HackerNest to be filled asap. Ideal candidates are versatile – that means you can work well in teams but still maintain momentum when in isolation. You are driven, self-motivated, are resourceful, can multitask, and are adept at adapting to a fast-moving, team-based environment. You can consistently deliver on deadlines and have some flexibility in your schedule for travel and events which tend to be on weeknights or weekends.
