ReStore Associate to help increase its retail & product donation program.
The ReStore Associate is responsible for offering support to the internal and external handling of donated goods; and for the provision of sales/service support to ReStore customers.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for evaluating, testing, cleaning, repairing, pricing and merchandising products throughout the store. Additional tasks will include customer service, processing recycled materials, maintenance, cleaning duties in the work room, store and external common areas as needed. Other duties include, preforming cash and credit transactions and assisting opening and closing duties as required.
Habitat for Humanity Chatham-Kent is a community-based charity working for a world where everyone has a safe and decent place to live. Our mission is to build affordable housing and promote homeownership as a means to breaking the cycle of poverty through the mobilization of volunteers and community partnerships. The ReStore is Habitat’s retail program and resells quality new and used building materials. Funds raised through the ReStore help build homes for low income families in the community of Chatham-Kent.


  •  At minimum, the incumbent will hold a secondary school diploma.
  •  Physical ability to work in the warehouse, in salvage or procurement activities which include standing for long periods of time as well as have the ability to lift up to 70 lbs consistently and repetitively.
  •  Minimum 2 years experience in retail, warehouse support, construction or equivalent.
  •  Strong communication skills, with an ability to lead and motivate volunteers.
  •  Skilled with Excel and Microsoft Office programs.
  •  Solid customer service experience.
  •  Calm, very well organized and able to deal with the pressure of a demanding and ever changing work environment.
  •  Good knowledge of safety and maintenance issues in a warehouse environment.
  •  Experience working or volunteering with a non-profit.
  •  Knowledge of building supplies and of home construction and renovation projects, including concrete, carpentry, flooring, drywall, painting, heating, plumbing and electrical trades an asset.
  •  Valid driver’s license and dependable transportation required with a clean drivers abstract.
  •  Ability and willingness to be trained to operate a cube truck and forklift.
  •  Perform cash credit transactions and perform store opening and closing duties as required.
  •  Must be able and willing to work regularly scheduled Saturdays.
  •  Strong belief in the mission and values of Habitat for Humanity.
  •  Must provide a clean criminal background check.

Terms of Employment:
 22 hours per week
