Role: Road Freight Coordinator

Reporting to the Vice President of Logistics & Business Development, the Road Freight coordinator performs all necessary Import, Export and Domestic activities including Customs Clearance coordination for all road transport. This includes all system and carrier tracking, confirmation of related activities for the movement of goods including NAFTA region for trans-border shipments. Daily activities will include file creation/completion, in-transit report creation, compiling import/export documentation for presentation, performing required transactions in UFOS & Sales Force. Working closely with internal customers, our warehouses, carriers and customs brokers. The candidate will be a key contributor to the Montreal Logistics Team.

Key Responsibilities;

  • Administer and coordinate daily activities relating to road activities across North America
  • Create weekly in-transit reports, confirm shipment availability in system, track on time delivery, manage completion of all required documents and Customs pre-clearance; track and confirm warehouse / consignee receipt of product.
  • Manage and work with all carrier and interact with warehouse / consignee locations for on time receipt of product.

Job Requirements;

  • Follow-up on all orders from beginning to end of cycle
  • Follow up on all aspects of import orders to ensure timely compliance with customer requirements.
  • Correspondence with customs broker, freight companies and trucker.
  • Follow up for deliveries.
  • Preparation of documents for the customs broker, payments to suppliers and freight companies.
  • Maintain updated carrier certification and must comply with GT Group rules and standards.
  • Approval of brokerage bill for each shipment.
  • Plan, coordinate and monitor all FTL and LTL freight movements.
  • Handle domestic transports (scheduling and documentation).
  • Negotiate rates with network of carriers for individual shipments.
  • Coordinate shipments between carriers and customers.
  • Approve or amend any billing issues.
  • Record and maintain files and records of customer requests, work or services performed, charges, expenses and other dispatch information.
  • Must develop a strong understanding UFOS for daily job functions.
  • Ensure GT Group quality policy is adhered to at all times.

  • Strong sales person / inside & outside sales
  • Excellent communication skills {verbal & written}
  • Languages; Bilingual {English and French}
  • Strong math skills
  • College or University graduate
  • IT skilled
  • Competitive nature
  • Understanding of how to build the perfect quote
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Must be able to work under a high-pressure environment
