The Junior Underwriter position at GMS will provide opportunities to do both! As the Junior Underwriter at GMS, this role will focus on assisting both individual and group underwriting processes and projects. In addition, this role will support underwriting on the individual and group sides of our business through research, competitive analysis, reporting, and customer support initiatives.

Position Responsibilities
Review pending underwriting requests for individual health and travel products. Review case details and underwriting procedures and guidelines. Provide support for the design of new policies including eligibility and stability of travel risks. Appropriately respond to medical risk questions from our internal partners as well as our external sales partners. Escalate exception requests as needed. Support and assist in the annual review of Underwriting Guidelines. Complete reporting for monthly group renewals. Enter data into the group pricing model. Create group quote and renewal packages as needed.

Education & Experience
Diploma or Certificate in a health sciences field; or combination of underwriting experience and related education. Prior experience in underwriting, and knowledge of group benefits are a strong asset. Strong command over the Microsoft Office suite of products. Experience with business research and business case report writing considered an asset.
