Job Title: Retail Assistant

Department: Retail

Reports to: Operations Manager

The Grimsby Benevolent Fund provides assistance to members of our community to meet their basic needs and to achieve self-sufficiency.

Position Overview:
The role of this position is responsible for assisting the Operations Manager with the day to day operations of the Retail store. The Assistant works with volunteers, oversees sales, donations of merchandise, promotion of the store in the community, and internal fiscal controls. The Assistant serves as the Operations Manager in his/her absence.

Essential Functions:
Provide support in the overall operation and performance of the store, which includes but is not limited to: merchandising, operations, and supervision.

Assists with the opening and closing of the store

Oversee the processing of donated items, manages the rotation of items and the disposal of donated items

Ensures that the Retail floor runs smoothly

Deal with enquiries and complaints and monitor customers service in the absence of the Operations Manager

Assists with the displays of merchandise inside the store to enhance the appearance and appeal of store

Assist with the changeover of seasonal products, specialty items and jewellery sales

Ensure adherence to Grimsby Benevolent Funds set procedures and policies

Assist with the maintenance and cleanliness of the retail side internally and externally as required

Assist with the branding and pricing needs of all retail items

Maintains Health & Safety standards in the retail side and compliance with volunteers in the absence of Operations Manger

Assist with the purchase and stock of required supplies for the Retail area

Assist with the coordination of store promotions and events to drive sales

Other Skills/Abilities:
Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals, including volunteers and clients of GBF either autonomously or in a team environment.

Must exhibit excellent customer service skills while interacting with GBF staff, donor, agencies, general public and or clients at all times.

Effective interpersonal and problem solving skills.

Demonstrated ability to maintain a level of professionalism, promoting Grimsby Benevolent Fund’s community spirit and mission.

Physical Requirements:
Must regularly lift and/or move objects up to 20 pounds, frequently lift and or move objects up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and or move objects that weigh more than 100 pounds.

Required to work 40 hours per week which includes Friday evenings and Saturday.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Operation Manager and or Executive Director.
