Position Title: Registrar
Department: Admissions
Hours: Full-time, 80 hours bi-weekly, 7:30am-4:00pm
Position Summary
Registers patients for outpatient services and inpatient admissions. Provides a positive first impression of the local entity.
Collects insurance co-pay and deductibles at Point of Service. Quickly and efficiently expedites the admitting procedure.

Essential Job Functions
Description
Assists patients in the processing of paperwork.
Interviews patients to obtain all required financial and demographic information necessary to register that patient for any services
needed.
Inputs all of the collected information into the appropriate systems.
Makes sure that every patient has an appropriate order from the physician.
Calls physician’s office as necessary to obtain proper orders.
Informs patients/guarantors of their insurance co-pay, coinsurance and/or deductibles and collects at time of registration.
Fills out appropriate forms and receipts to complete the cash collection process.
Accurately scans all insurance cards, ID’s, orders and other documents.
Accurately completes MSP/medical rights forms for all patients.
Balances out cash and credit card transactions at the end of each shift and maintains individual cash bag in accordance with the
cash control procedure.
Obtains copies of patients’ insurance cards, photo ID and secures appropriate consents and insurance assignments.
Recognizes that the information gathered is necessary to efficiently and effectively handle the patient’s account.
Willingly accepts other duties as assigned.
Educational/Training Requirements
Degree/Diploma Obtained Program of Study Required/Preferred
High School Diploma or GED Required
Educational requirements apply to any new hire after 6/1/2014. Incumbents are held to the education standard at time of hire and will be
exempt from the above requirement and given credit for experience as long as they are able to demonstrate knowledge and ability to
perform job duties based on the local entity’s ongoing assessment of competency.

Physical and Mental Requirements
Varied amounts of sitting, standing, stooping and bending. Must be capable of stretching and lifting. May require walking short
distances. Is subject to eye strain from prolonged periods of word processing and computer screen viewing. Exposure to
frequently fast paced office environment, requiring the ability to work under pressure of multiple requests and time constraints.
Must possess manual dexterity to handle and manipulate equipment.
Environmental Requirements
Occasional exposure to moderate environmental variations, above-normal noise levels, and/or unpleasant substances. May be
exposed to hazardous or potentially injurious elements or conditions. During the course of duties may occasionally be at risk for
occupational exposure to chemicals for example disinfectants and soaps.
