POSITION TITLE: Digital Campaigner – Election project


REPORTS TO: Senior Digital Strategist


CONTRACT DETAILS: Full-time to end of 2015

Greenpeace Canada is seeking a Digital Campaigner to work on Greenpeace Canada’s Election Project in order to build and foster a community of Canadians who want their leaders to take real action on the climate. They will curate and create content for an election-focused website, researching the policies and positions of political candidates. They will also animate the communities that the platform sparks, working to empower and enable people connecting online to take their activism further face to face.


  • Working with the developers of Greenpeace Canada’s election-focused website to fill out the site content based on the objectives of the election project. Researching candidates’ platform positions and write related copy for the website.
  • Updating the site with curated content and updates relevant to the community. Revising the site/candidate profiles based on information received.
  • Promoting the platform on an ongoing basis using Greenpeace Canada’s online social network presence, and proactively suggest and implement outreach strategies to drive traffic to the site.
  • Working with Greenpeace Canada’s engagement & mobilization teams to ensure a meaningful, engaging experience for people who visit and participate in the online platform, and to craft a holistic supporter journey including calls to action and fundraising appeals.
  • Managing the reporting, tracking and evaluation of the digital components of the election project in collaboration with the Data Strategist.
  • Promoting Greenpeace events on social media and other digital channels.
  • Other duties as required.

  • Deep understanding of digital strategy and online community management;
  • Knowledge and experience with various web development technologies and design programs;
  • Previous experience in lobbying, campaigning or advocacy;
  • Knowledge of environmental issues and the environmental sector;
  • Knowledge of the overall goals and intent of Greenpeace;
  • Previous experience creating, managing and updating web content;
  • Highly tuned organizational, administrative and time management skills;
  • Developed research and analytical skills;
  • Previous experience developing creative online campaign solutions;
  • Experience contributing to a culture of excellence and innovation by actively sharing knowledge and striving for continuous improvement;
  • Finely tuned verbal and written communications skills;
  • Experience working in cross departmental teams within a diverse and multi-cultural environment;
  • Bilingualism will be considered an asset;
  • You will work with colleagues in Canada and some travel may be necessary. Evening and weekend work is sometimes required.

    Candidates should understand and support Greenpeace campaign tactics, including the use of peaceful civil disobedience. All candidates must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
