Volunteer Services Manager

General: Reporting to the Executive Director and working in close cooperation with other staff members and volunteers, support strategic growth in volunteer services and community development initiatives.

Coordinate and grow Volunteer Victoria’s office volunteer and advising volunteer programs;

Manage and grow advising and outreach services to individuals of all stages of life;

Develop new research and knowledge of volunteer management issues and best practices and trends in volunteerism;

Coordinate and implement short-term projects, programs, and services

Manage Volunteer Victoria’s weekly media columns

Coordinate and support Volunteer Victoria’s in-house office volunteers and advising services volunteers

Manage and grow Volunteer Victoria’s Advising services. Establish 1 to 3 new off-site Advising services in underserved communities across the region

Support individual volunteers with advising appointments

Manage and distribute Volunteer Victoria’s weekly media columns

Deliver outreach presentations to youth and adult audiences

Respond to questions about best practices in volunteer management. Provide resources and tools to support individual and organizational learning about volunteer management.

Participate in continuous learning about volunteer management principles and practices. Goal: CAVR Certification

Identify and realize opportunities to complete one-time contracts for services with members and non members such as volunteer management, audit, or developing recruitment strategies, corporate volunteer programs etc.

Deliver workshops and training on Volunteer Management

Establish a research program to generate relevant data on local volunteering trends and impacts

Support VV’s administrative functions – office coordination and management, administrative duties, team meetings, planning etc.

Volunteer management certification or 5 or more years of equivalent experience supervising volunteers.

Extensive knowledge of the non-profit community.

Demonstrated ability to build strategic partnerships and collaborations.

Ability to establish positive working relationships with staff, volunteers and users of the agency’s services.

Excellent presentation, and written and oral skills.

Excellent project management skills with a proven ability to design, implement, and manage programs and services, research, and short-term projects.

Working Conditions:
Volunteer Victoria is a busy office open Monday to Friday 8:30 to 4:30 pm. This position works closely with a diverse team of volunteers who require varying degrees of supervision and support.

This is a permanent position, 28 hours per week.

Salary and Benefits:
$ 21.50 per hour. 3 weeks (6%) vacation per year. After completion of a satisfactory 3-month probationary period staff are entitled to receive a comprehensive health benefits package. After 1 year RSP is paid at the rate of 4% of annual salary.
