Job Description:
Position Overview :

Reporting to the Assistant Regional Manager for Disability Intervention Services, and associated with Vancouver and Langley Disability Management Services Offices, the Rehabilitation Consultant will assess the vocational, educational, and rehabilitative needs of claimants who are disabled. You will develop and implement approved rehabilitation service delivery plans based on claimant needs and contractual provisions. This position requires a home-based office and travel will be required.

Accountabilities :

  • Assessment of vocational rehabilitation potential and needs through file review and direct interview of individuals receiving disability benefits
  • Identifying barriers to employability, interventions to address barriers and making referral to services as necessary (disability adjustment factors; treatment; vocational assessment and training; career planning and development; job development and job search techniques; community resources)
  • Developing realistic, cost-effective rehabilitation/return-to-work plans (return to work strategies; re-training needs; coordination of rehabilitation efforts with all involved stakeholders)
  • Preparing written reports detailing finding and recommendations
  • Actively manage functional recovery and return-to-work expectations with employees, employers and care providers
  • Recording accurate billing information
  • Tracking and reporting on service-related activities

Qualifications and Competencies :

  • A degree in a discipline related to vocational rehabilitation or disability management, with experience in health or social sciences preferred
  • 5 years of experience in insurance rehabilitation or the field of vocational rehabilitation preferred
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to accommodate a home-based office with equipment supplied by Great-West Life
  • Excel within a Purpose/Vision driven work environment
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle are necessary due to the travel requirements
