Under the general direction of the Assistant Accounting Manager, this position is responsible for various accounting functions, including but not limited to revenue reconciliations, gaming and F&B audit reviews, bank reconciliations, tax reporting, month end journal entry recording and accounting reconciliations. Ensures adherence to all policies and procedures while contributing to a safe and welcoming work environment for all employees. Must be collaborative, excel at multi-tasking and display exceptional communication and interpersonal skills. Above all else, must embrace and be aligned with Casino Nova Scotia’s culture and philosophy of providing outstanding entertainment experiences.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Verify, record and reconcile daily banking transactions
  • Reconcile cash flow for all revenue sources
  • Record regular journal entries into accounting software
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual working papers and general ledger reconciliations
  • Provide support to Audit Staff as necessary to act as vacation coverage
  • Ensures compliance with Internal Controls, NS Gaming Regulations and Departmental policies and procedures
  • Identifies opportunities for efficiencies and internal process improvement
  • Communicates effectively with all appropriate business units, operational departments, internal/external auditors, government partners and gaming regulatory bodies
  • Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with guests, employees and regulators
  • Complies with licensing laws, health and safety and other statutory regulations

Education and Qualification Requirements:

  • Post-secondary education in accounting/finance or a suitable combination of education and experience
  • In-depth understanding of accounting principles, practices and procedures
  • Preference will be given to those candidates currently working towards accounting designation
  • Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication
  • Computer literacy in accounting software and MS Office
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in accounting or finance
