The Ministry of Education provides strategic, innovative and collaborative leadership to the early learning and child care, Prekindergarten through Grade 12 education, literacy and library sectors. It promotes higher student achievement and wellbeing for Saskatchewan children and youth and improved literacy skills for all, as a foundation of the province’s social and economic growth.
The Student Achievement and Supports Branch is seeking a highly motivated education leader for the position of Superintendent of Sector Support. Reporting to the Executive Director, you will:

  • provide oversight to child/student-centred complex case management regarding the provision of services for children.
  • develop and maintain positive relationships with a diverse range of clients and team members within the workplace, school divisions, or community and/or other government ministries and agencies.
  • direct and counsel school division personnel, elected boards, parents, etc. in interpreting and applying provincial legislation.
  • identify, anticipate and analyze emerging problems through research of other provincial jurisdictions and professional experience.
  • provides leadership on emerging provincial initiatives as needed, and current initiatives operational within the province which involve school divisions.
  • represent the ministry on inter-ministry committees and adjudicate the Special Education Teacher Qualifications Credential process.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • extensive knowledge of the legislation and regulations of, and experience in the Saskatchewan’s PreK-12 education and early years sectors.
  • knowledge of government administration and decision making processes.
  • strong leadership, relationship building and problem solving skills.
  • excellent written and oral communication skills using conflict management, intervention strategies and mediation.
  • fluency in both official languages will be considered an asset.

Typically, the knowledge and skills required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a Masters in the human services field, such as psychology/social work or equivalent combination of education and experience. Some travel is required.
