The Ministry of Central Services, Mail Services Branch, has an immediate opening for a permanent part-time Postal Clerk located in Regina, working approximately 30 hours a week including as needed based on operational requirements.

This position is responsible for processing a large volume of incoming and outgoing mail for an extensive client base. Duties of this position include sorting, metering, and handling of letters, packages, and boxes. You will read, understand, memorize, and recall various pieces of information, such as codes, locations, etc. in order to sort and meter mail quickly and accurately. You will perform routine maintenance and operation of postage meter equipment, including changing ink cartridges and altering dates. You will be required to lift and carry mail bags, boxes and parcels and perform related duties as assigned. You will confirm the accuracy of data supplied by others regarding postal delivery systems. You will operate various pieces of machinery such as pallet jacks and a hydraulically adjusted dock.

The successful candidate must be able to lift and carry heavy articles, repeatedly, on a daily basis. This position also requires standing for long periods of time, repetitive motion (wrist), some exposure to noise from machinery, exposure to dust, and handling of hazardous materials (i.e. medical specimens). This position will be a back up for Postal Chauffeurs so a valid drivers license and good drivers abstract will be required.

The successful candidate will be flexible to successfully adapt to changing work environments, processes, and workloads. He or she will also be creative and a team player to cooperatively discover and implement solutions to challenges that arise. The knowledge, skills, and abilities required for this position are typically obtained through a completion of a high school diploma and/or related experience..
