The Ministry of Justice is seeking a positive role model to fill the position of Parental Care Worker. Working at the Prince Albert Youth Residence you will provide secure custody and remand for males ages 12 to 18 under the
Youth Criminal Justice Act
as well as other federal and provincial acts. As a Parental Care Worker you will work with a team of professionals to provide a dynamic program including safety, security and supervision for youth in custody. You must provide positive leadership, counseling, direction, support and custodial supervision.
We are seeking a candidate who will demonstrate a commitment to the Ministry’s strategic plan. As the successful candidate, you must have knowledge of human growth and adolescent development and the impact of influencing factors; and knowledge of behavior management techniques. You must have demonstrated the ability to recognize potential risks to the safety and well-being of self, clients, staff and the community. You must be a positive role model for youth and have values that include integrity, respect and service excellence.
We are seeking a candidate who has knowledge of multicultural beliefs, values and perspectives. Th
e successful candidate must be available for short notice/emergent shifts, be able to transport youth, participate in training activities as required
and work a variety of shifts including afternoons, nights, weekends and statutory holidays.
completion of an Induction Training Program (ITP) will be required to maintain employment.
Prior to commencement of ITP, candidates must be medically cleared to participate in restraint training.
This position requires proof of First Aid and CPR certification within 3 months of employment. A current Class 5 drivers licence is required to transport youth.
