The Ministry of the Economy (ECON) is seeking a highly motivated individual to manage its Tenure Services Unit within the Lands and Mineral Tenure Branch. Reporting to the Director of Mineral Tenure, this position will oversee the day-to-day operation of ECON’s web-based Mineral Administration Registry Saskatchewan (MARS) system.

The position will also oversee the activities of staff who provide a wide variety of support services related to the issuance of Crown mineral tenure and the related revenue programs. These activities include: issuance and administration of Crown mineral dispositions; providing timely and accurate mineral ownership information for both internal and non-government clients; and the invoicing and collection of various fees, deposits and rents.

This challenging position requires in-depth knowledge or/experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and their application to the management of lands and resources. Proficiency with programming languages (e.g. SQL) for creating queries and scripts is essential, as are problem solving/data analysis skills and experience working with databases, word processors and spreadsheets. Knowledge of the Saskatchewan Land Titles Registry and the Land Surveys Directory is an asset, including the ability to interpret complex mineral ownership information.

Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through a Bachelor’s degree in geography, computer science, natural resource management or business administration or combination of education and experience
