The Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure is seeking an innovative, responsible and motivated individual to join the Program Development Unit of their Corporate Support Branch in Regina.
The capital planning coordinator is at the center of the Program Development Unit.
They will develop and update the databases and information that the unit uses to do reporting and programming functions.
They also act as essential back-up and support to the manager and will be called upon to perform tasks or answer inquiries when the manager is absent.
As part of the reporting and programming functions they will also be asked to perform as a team lead in conjunction with the financial analysts to do larger projects and analysis.
As the Capital Planning Coordinator:
you will d
evelop and maintain the Ministry’s 5 Year Capital Plan and Tender Schedules to allow for the planning and delivery of construction projects in support of the Ministry’s strategic plan;
you will manage the Ministry’s forecast and capital databases as it interfaces with the Oracle-based Project Costing system to provide current and accurate information on the status and costs of various Ministry programs and projects;
you will conduct detailed analysis on program expenditures and accomplishments to report progress on performance measures, public performance plan and establish targets and key actions for future performance plans; and
you will monitor and report on workload in the road building industry to provide Executive Management with information on the state of the road building industry.
Travel Required: One day a month and 2 overnight trips a year.
Typically the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be gained and demonstrated through the completion of a business degree with a strong computer background, a computer science degree with a financial/accounting background or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
