The IT Services branch has a challenging opportunity for an innovative, service-oriented individual with expert web and application knowledge, to fulfill the role of Web Analyst.

Reporting to the Web Lead, this position is responsible for providing expertise by supporting, developing and maintaining a broad range of web applications, tools and services for the department. This position provides functional and performance improvements and ensures web technologies and solutions are available for staff use. You will be responsible for maintaining, supporting and enhancing all of the departments’ public and internal facing websites. These websites include but are not limited to the ministry Intranet, ministry public website, Alberta Emergency Management Agency, Office of the Fire Commissioner, New Home Warranty and MGA Review websites. This position provides, develops and implements custom web solutions and delivers timely operational web support and expertise to the department. You will also provide training to ministry staff on web applications such as OpenText CMS, SharePoint and WordPress.

The successful candidate should have in-depth knowledge of web technologies and industry trends, including development, statistical and analytical tools and content management technologies. You will also require well-developed analysis and project management skills; and superior communication, consulting, negotiation and presentation skills to effectively develop, communicate and implement solutions.

  • Qualifications

    Completion of a Degree or Diploma in Computer Science plus several years’ directly related experience within a Web application development or maintenance environment is required. Experience in the support, maintenance and development of Content Management Systems (CMS) using tools such as InfoPath, SharePoint Designer and Visual Studio as well as Web development technologies such as CSS3/HTML5, CSS preprocessors (i.e. Sass, Less), JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, Twitter Bootstrap, version control systems is required. Knowledge of web design best practices including working with related design tools would be an asset.
