The Occupational Health and Safety Contact Centre (OHSCC) Advisor is responsible for providing information and clarification to Albertans about Occupational Health and Safety (OH&S) legislation, policies, and programs. Information is provided for the purpose of increasing overall awareness of the legislation and to reduce incident frequency and injuries on worksites.

Other important duties of the OHSCC Advisor include receiving telephone notifications of workplace incidents and fatalities from employers, emergency services and police, as well as complaints of unsafe work practices from workers, suppliers and citizens. The Advisor ensures that complete and accurate information is obtained and recorded, as this information is provided to OH&S Compliance for investigation.

The successful candidate will have strong communication skills and will be able to provide critical clarification of legislation and technical advice on health and safety matters. This requires strong technical knowledge of the legislation and industry processes along with logical and intuitive thinking, and excellent analytical and writing skills.


A two-year OH&S Diploma plus a minimum of two years’ recent related health and safety experience is required. Preference will be given to applicants with experience providing interpretation of the OH&S Act, Regulation and Code to stakeholders. Previous contact centre experience also considered an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.


$2,259.36 to $2,963.75 bi-weekly ($58,969 to $77,353 annually)
