Are you seeking an opportunity to drive continuous improvement on a program that supports the safety and integrity of newly constructed homes? If so, the Public Safety Division within Municipal Affairs has the perfect opportunity for you! We are seeking a collaborative, systematic leader to influence change.

As the Manager, New Home Buyer Protection Program (NHBPP), you will work closely with an array of internal and external stakeholders to ensure the NHBP Program evolves to meet the demands of newly constructed homes. With over 30,000 new homes being built each year in Alberta, your agility will be measured through effective registration management and ensuring that no new home is left behind without warranty.

You will be responsible to manage the day to day operations of the NHBP program. This includes the management of the complex compliance and ad-hoc inquires as well as adjusting resources in order to sustain efficient and effective operations. In addition, the manager is responsible to manage the operation of the NHBP registry which also includes the builder licensing registry system. You will lead a team of highly dedicated team of professionals whose focus is the continuous development of the NHBP program. This includes the analysis of operational issues, research of best practices and emerging trends in the construction sector, and providing metrics on homes being built in Alberta. You will be responsible to prepare recommendations and supporting documents to the Registrar regarding appeals. The manager will also be involved with the development of strategic and organizational business plans and goals of the branch. The manager is also responsible to manage related budgets. You will be required to prepare comprehensive program reports that reflect the NHBP program’s performance as well as the identification of opportunities and risks. Other duties include the development and maintenance of communication guidelines and ensuring that program information is up to date.

The successful candidate will demonstrate initiative, excellent communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills. You will use your strong problem solving, decision making as well as conflict resolution skills when collaborating with a variety of stakeholders and building team capacity. Your strong organizational skills and attention to detail will assist with managing multiples projects, with changing timelines and priorities. Qualifications

A university degree in a related area, with 4 years of progressively responsible experience is required. Experience in program development, policy, and/or research along with previous staff supervision is required. Previous project management experience is preferred. Experience in the construction industry and knowledge of residential construction and construction trends is desired. Knowledge of the Safety Codes Act, New Home Buyer Protection Act and Insurance Act is an asset.

Salary

$3,062.51 – $4,121.25 bi-weekly
