The Legal Services Litigation team is looking for two lawyers to join their team. As a lawyer on the litigation team, you will work as a team and play both a supporting and leading role in conducting complex civil litigation. Your work will include a variety of civil litigation proceedings including personal injury, commercial litigation, class actions, judicial reviews, and arbitrations.
The position offers interesting and challenging work, including responsibility for the following:
– Drafting pleadings, affidavits, opinions and briefs
– Conducting examinations
– Frequent appearances in regular and special chambers
– Advocacy before Arbitrators, the Court of Queen’s Bench and the Court of Appeal.
To succeed in this role you will need strong analytical skills, superior oral and written advocacy and exceptional communication skills. You must enjoy working as part of a team and possess strong client relations skills.
A Bachelor of Laws (LL.B.) or Juris Doctor (J.D) with a minimum of 4 years of civil litigation experience. The candidate must be an active member or must have immediate eligibility for full membership with the Law Society of Alberta and is required to have litigation experience.
Classification and salary will be determined based on candidate?s qualifications.
Below is the minimum number of years required for each classification:
– Legal Counsel 2: 4 years to 13 years of related experience is required ($4,391.03 – $5,600.88 bi-weekly)
– Legal Counsel 3: More than 12 years of related experience is required ($5,535.55 – $6,467.12 bi-weekly)
