Reporting to the Senior Policy Advisor, the Junior Policy Analyst will assist with the work of the Forest Tenure, Trade and Policy branch by providing quantitative and qualitative policy research and analysis, supporting project management and consultation initiatives, and coordinating services to support strategic, forestry related legislative and regulatory projects with the key project being the review of the Forests Act.

Primary responsibilities include assisting the Senior Policy Advisor with project management; conducting research and options development; undertaking environmental and jurisdictional scanning and preparing reports; responding to action requests; and drafting briefings for the consideration of senior Ministry representatives and stakeholders. This position also assists in facilitating stakeholder engagement activities including planning and implementing stakeholder engagement sessions and documenting what was heard for a variety of audiences both internal and external to government. Finally, the position provides administrative coordination and support for executive working groups.

Qualifications

A degree in political science, public administration, or a related field is required. Equivalencies such as a related diploma plus 2 years of related policy and/or research experience or four years of related policy and/or research experience will also be considered. Previous experience in environmental and/or resource management will be considered an asset.

Salary

$2,259.36 to $2,963.75bi-weekly ($58,969 to $77,354 annually)
