Role

Alberta Serious Incident Response Team (ASIRT) is a provincial unit that investigates serious and sensitive matters involving police officers. Due to the complexity of investigations and the disclosure standard required by the courts, ASIRT requires a detailed orientated individual with exceptional administrative skills to join its fast paced team.

This position will be responsible for maintaining operations and functional expertise necessary to lead the disclosure program and assist personnel in ASIRT Records Management initiatives, Imaging functions and processing standards, Alberta Justice Disclosure Processes and Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy legislation (FOIP) requirements, and prepare case files for disclosure in Fatality Inquiries. The successful candidate will support the investigators by providing administrative assistance by monitoring timelines and producing letters as per legislative requirements; assist with maintenance and other investigative entries on the Electronic Management System; tracking of investigative costs, witness/court management; answering telephone calls from stakeholders with respect to disclosure and performing other administrative duties as required.

The successful candidate will require strong interpersonal and communication skills to liaise with ASIRT Managers, Commanders and Investigators in order to meet strict timelines set for action requests, disclosure of investigative files, and respond to FOIP inquiries. The successful candidate will have the ability to multitask, have strong attention to detail, be highly organized, have excellent time management skills, work with minimal supervision and be able to communicate with staff and other stakeholders with tact and diplomacy. As this position is responsible for handling information that is of a sensitive nature, a high degree of confidentiality and diplomacy is required.

Qualifications

A High School diploma and a minimum of two years of related experience in an administrative position is required. Previous experience working in records management, FOIP legislation and/or working with specialized imaging software/equipment would be an asset. Experience in a law enforcement or public security environment would also be an asset. Equivalencies will be considered.

Salary

$1,650.19 to $2,016.24 Bi-weekly

Final candidate for this position will be asked to undergo a security screening to Federal Level II Secret clearance. This job posting will be used to fill current and future vacancies across the Government of Alberta. This competition may be used to fill future permanent and temporary vacancies. This is a one year temporary salaried position.
