The Lethbridge and the Medicine Hat Children’s Services offices have opportunities within the south region for individuals to provide part-time service in a role that focuses on SAFE Home Assessment reports. These reviews and reports involve prospective adoptive, foster and kinship families. The successful candidates in these roles will work in close collaboration with the Foster Care & Permanency Staff, Caseworkers for Children in Care, and Supervisors, to assess prospective kinship, foster and adoptive parents, and prepare home assessment reports determining the applicant?s eligibility/suitability to the respective program area.

Qualifications

A Bachelor of Social Work Degree with some directly related experience working with children and families. Equivalencies will be considered. Previous training and experience in the SAFE home assessment model would be a definite asset.

The successful candidates will have a knowledge of and familiarity with family dynamics, relationships and emotional interactions. Also, a knowledge of adoption issues and of the Child, Youth and Family Enhancement Act would be a definite asset.

The candidates should be able to demonstrate strong assessment and facilitation skills; possess excellent communication, planning and organizational skills; and have the ability to work independently with regular accountability.

This role requires a working knowledge of Microsoft products.

Salary

$34.92 to $45.15 per hour

Notes

We are seeking individuals to fill work assignments that are traditionally centered out of the Lethbridge and Medicine Hat offices, but who may be assigned work throughout the region (including Brooks, Taber, Fort Macleod, Pincher Creek, and Crowsnest Pass). To be considered, clearly indicate which general area in the southern part of the province you are interested in.

Successful applicants who possess a BSW, MSW or Diploma in Social Work from an Alberta College will be required to be register and maintain registration with the Alberta College of Social Workers prior to commencement of employment. Travel is a requirement of this position therefore; the successful candidate must have a valid Alberta Driver’s License and access to a reliable vehicle. Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a Security, Academic and Intervention Record Check.
