We have an outstanding warrant for your commitment to the Hearing Office! If you have a strong interest in the court system and are looking for a challenging and diverse career, the Edmonton Hearing Office has an opportunity for you. We are currently seeking candidates who are interested in working shift work on a rotating basis in an 18 hour operation.

As a Hearing Office Judicial Clerk, your responsibilities will include:

-Entering data from court endorsements onto the Justice Online Information Network (JOIN)
-Preparing release documents, summons, warrants for arrest and other court documentation
-Accepting payments for release and explaining court documentation to the public
-Exercising your role as a non-presiding Justice of the Peace, by conducting administrative bail releases, explaining terms of release to offenders in custody and completing bail assignments
-Providing assistance to the public and legal community
-This position may require coverage at the Edmonton Remand Centre.

Please note the Edmonton Hearing Office is an 18 hours a day, 7 days a week operation. Shifts are on a rotating 6/3 rotational schedule.

Qualifications

-Judicial Clerk: High School diploma and minimum six months of related experience.
-Senior Judicial Clerk: High School diploma and minimum two years of related experience, including 18 months of directly related experience as a Judicial Clerk and the successful completion of the departmental para-legal program.

Knowledge of MS Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is required. Preference will be given to candidates with relevant experience in a courthouse or as a legal assistant/paralegal.
Customer service experience, along with experience dealing with cash register/balancing are considered assets.
Knowledge the Justice On-Line Information Network (JOIN), along with the digital recording system (FTR) is also considered assets.
A Legal Assistant or Paralegal Certificate or Diploma would be beneficial.
Equivalencies will be considered.

Salary

Judicial Clerk: $1,616.31 to $1,970.04 bi-weekly
Sr. Judicial Clerk: $1,902.55 to $2,335.00 bi-weekly

Notes

Please note the Edmonton Hearing Office is an 18 hour/7 days a week operation. Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening. This competition may be used to fill future Part-Time and Full-Time vacancies.
