We are looking for highly motivated individuals with progressive technical experience to assist the Director of Surveys in coordinating the establishment, maintenance and preservation of Alberta’s land survey system.

Reporting to the Land Survey Advisory Team Lead, this positon will provide technical support for the examination of non-official plans of survey for compliance with existing legislative requirements and surveying standards. You will also assist in the research and maintenance of official and historical land survey records. Other key duties will include assisting with the preparation of official survey instructions and providing land survey advisory services to stakeholders. Your sound knowledge of the Alberta Land Survey System, the Surveys Act, the Land Titles Act as well as your strong interpersonal, analytical and time management skills will assist you in this position.

About Your Work Environment
In this role, you will be working out of an office location in downtown Edmonton. However, occasional travel to perform field work in all regions of Alberta may be required. You will have regular and on-going contact with other members of the team as well as with other divisions within Alberta Environment and Parks, representatives from other Ministries, aboriginal groups and external multi-stakeholder groups.


Two-year technical diploma in geomatics engineering or a related field supplemented by a minimum of 2 years related experience with legal land surveying and/or engineering. Demonstrated experience with global navigation satellite systems; computer graphic software (i.e. MicroStation and AutoCAD); geodetic control network and land surveying system; land legislation; and standards of practice would be considered an asset. A valid class 5 driver’s license is required. Candidates with lesser qualifications (two-year related technical diploma and 1 year experience) may be considered at a lower classification and salary.

$2,218.47 to $2,905.48 bi-weekly ($57,902 to $75,833 per annum)
