Are you an experienced leader with an extensive background in coordinating the financial functions of diverse service-delivery areas? Are you experienced in integrating financial reporting, budgeting, forecasts, and conducting various financial analysis? If so, this opportunity is for you!

The Director, Financial Coordination and Reporting Office (FCRO) provides leadership to comprehensive functions and activities which focus on ensuring the financial health and reputation of the Delivery Services Division within the Ministry of Community and Social Services. In addition to financial planning and forecasting, you are accountable for financial oversight and monitoring for the Division. As the Director, you lead the consolidation and integration of budgeting, forecasting and reporting activities for the Delivery Services Division. You are also responsible for identifying trends and conducting analysis to determine driving factors. You work extensively with partners in Corporate Finance, Treasury Board and Finance, regional program/service delivery areas, and non-delivery service areas to ensure integration, compliance and alignment for financial processes.

Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), you are relied on to provide well-researched, balanced and substantiated information and expertise to senior program and Ministry representatives. Your consultation, advice and recommendations affect decisions relating to financial planning, management and accountability. Ultimately, these decisions impact the Delivery Services Division, Ministry, funded organizations, and stakeholders in terms of allocation of financial resources and commitments to program delivery and operations. Your knowledge and insight links the financial and non-financial information management elements by ensuring relevant requirements are understood while balancing the unique requirements and perspectives of the diverse regional service-delivery areas and service-delivery support areas.

In addition, you lead a financial team that provides operations support to the Delivery Services Division. Your ability to demonstrate strong leadership, in addition to taking initiative, networking, and working collaboratively with staff across the organization and in various business areas, will be critical to your success. Through applying your effective communication skills, you examine organizational initiatives with a careful strategic lens and determine how to best represent the work and reality of the Division through the financial lens.

Qualifications

A University degree in a related field and six years’ progressively related experience is required. Equivalencies will be considered on a one-for-one basis. Directly related senior leadership experience in financial planning/budgeting, forecasting, analysis and reporting within a complex service-delivery environment is also required.

Preference will be given to candidates with directly related experience. A professional accounting designation is considered an asset.

Salary

$3,352.75 to $5,127.61, bi-weekly

Notes

Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening. This position may be used to fill future vacancies across the Government of Alberta, and candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary.
