The Utilities Consumer Advocate (UCA), Consumers Division, is seeking a professional that will be responsible for energy consumer education and engagement in Calgary and southern Alberta.
Reporting to the Sr. Consumer Education & Engagement Specialist that will be located in Edmonton, the Consumer Education & Engagement Specialist will contribute to the implementation of a comprehensive CEAP (Consumer Education and Awareness Program) consumer and stakeholder engagement plan. The outcomes of this position will impact the effectiveness of the UCA’s CEAP and complement the on-line component of the engagement plan. This role will ensure education and outreach activities and supporting products effectively engage Alberta consumers, including CEAP target audiences and associated stakeholder organizations. The position will assist in identifying and responding to issues faced by residential, farm and small business electricity and natural gas consumers by initiating, developing and delivering educational programs, publications, web content and other resources that empower these consumers and through its interactions with partner organizations.
The successful candidate must demonstrate personal initiative to identify, establish and cultivate positive relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders. The position requires strong relationship-building and communications skills (including verbal, writing, editing and proofreading) to develop and deliver workshops and presentations. Strong knowledge of the principles, approaches and techniques associated with effective public education and engagement will be required. Adaptability, creativity and broad technical literacy skills will be critical.
$2,588.03 – $ 3,394.66 bi-weekly ($57,548 – 88,601 annually)
*Occasional weekend/evening work will be required due to the nature of the position.*
Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License will be essential for this position.
