Do you possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills? Are you detail-oriented and do you have the ability to analyze information and write and edit large volume of assessment materials? Are you looking for a job that will assist you in developing your technical writing skills? If you said yes, we have a rewarding position for you as Certification Program Writer.

Reporting to the Manager, Certification, you will develop and maintain program and assessment materials for the Alberta National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) Certification Program. This program serves approximately 15,000 students in the fire service and you will be required to provide high quality writing and editing as well as excellent research skills. You will use your strong writing, editing and proof reading skills to revise examination questions and skills evaluations to ensure they correlate to the NFPA standards, current practices in the Alberta fire service and textbooks and other content sources.

Your excellent organizational and time management skills are essential to respond to changing priorities and handle multiple, high-priority tasks. Your demonstrated agility, creative problem solving, drive for results, as well as your ability to organize and prioritize will be paramount to achieving the quality of work expected for this program. Your exceptional written language skills, systems thinking, and the ability to build collaborative and successful working relationships will also support the success of this position.

This role will require demonstrated expertise in the following competencies:

A related university degree or post-secondary diploma is required, for example, English, communications, journalism, education. Advanced skills with Office Software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) are also a requirement. Demonstrated experience in writing, editing and proofreading would be an asset. Experience with online course development software would be an asset.
