Service Modernization is a division of Service Alberta that provides leadership, direction and expertise in corporate Information Management and Technology (IMT) governance, strategic planning, security, innovation, service delivery and investment management. Service Modernization also provides the delivery of Information Technology (IT) infrastructure and services for the Government of Alberta (GoA) ministries. Our division enables ministries and the GoA to meet desired business goals and objectives.

As a member of the Corporate Applications team, you will be responsible for a variety of activities and projects related to the support and development of both custom and commercial web applications as well as integrated software solutions that are hosted by Service Alberta. You will also have the opportunity to research new and innovative solutions to enhance the delivery of IT services to our customers.

This position functions with some independence and considerable teamwork. The successful candidate will make recommendations and develop solutions relating to the development and maintenance of information technology applications and appropriate hardware, software, and other configuration and application requirements.

To be successful, you must possess the ability to learn new technology quickly. You will also have project coordination, analytical, creative problem solving skills, as well as the ability to build collaborative environments in a team setting. Your drive for results, use of sound judgment and excellent time management skills will make you an excellent candidate. Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential, as we place high emphasis on optimal delivery of service.

Qualifications

A related degree or diploma in information technology related discipline plus a minimum of 4 years related experience within an Information Technology Applications environment. Proficiency with one or more programming languages such as ASP.Net, VB.Net, C# or PHP development is required as well as knowledge of Relational Databases such as Microsoft SQL and MySQL. Experience with ETL, XML, XSLT, XSL, and SSIS Packages as well as specific knowledge of network load balancing and data management processes would be considered assets. Equivalencies will be considered.

For individuals who have obtained related educational credentials from outside Canada, it is strongly recommended that you obtain an evaluation of your credentials from a Canadian educational credential assessment service. If you have already completed such an assessment, please include the certificate of assessment as part of your application. If you have not done so, please use the International Qualifications Assessment Service (IQAS) to have your credentials evaluated. Salary

$2,645.60 $3,632.52 bi-weekly ($69,050 – $94,808 annually)

Notes

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies.

Join us at the Access Building, 3720 – 76 Avenue (south side of Edmonton) where you will be surrounded by other administrative and IT professionals with a wide range of expertise and who are at the forefront of how IT services are being delivered across the GoA.
