Under the direction of the Construction Manager, the Aggregates Coordinator is responsible for providing alternative aggregate resources for the department’s construction and maintenance projects. You will apply your broad knowledge and understanding in aggregates gradation and quality, engineering and construction survey procedures and practices, and quality assurance testing procedures to provide alternate aggregate resources for the department’s construction and maintenance projects. Duties include coordinating the operation, management, and reclamation of aggregates sources, liaising with external agencies in matters of policy, referrals, and optimum use of the aggregate resource, and ensuring work carried out by consultants/contractors are in accordance with contractual agreements. In addition, you are responsible for the administration of the aggregates section which includes maintaining the computerized aggregate filing system, preparing accurate aggregate packages, and using your negotiation skills to resolve complex issues with compliance and multi-user conflicts.

As the Aggregated Coordinator, you must possess effective communication skills, a commitment to service excellence, and proven organizational and time management skills to coordinate completion of numerous projects while maintaining excellent rapport with the public and the agencies that work with the department.

Qualifications

Technical Diploma in Civil Engineering or related field supplemented by a minimum of 6 years of directly related experience in roadway design and construction.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience designing reclamation plans using Canada land index and soil survey.

Experience with Canada or Alberta Land Survey System, GPS, and spatial mapping principles and tools are an asset.

Equivalencies will be considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Salary

$2,532.40 – $3,325.32 bi-weekly ($66,095 to $86,790 annually)

Candidates with lesser experience may be considered at a lower classification and salary level. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies.

Travel is required in this position; therefore candidates must possess a valid driver’s license.
