Operations Division is looking for enthusiastic, highly motivated individuals to join their finance and administration teams at various locations in northern Alberta. Reporting to the Finance and/or Administration Unit Lead, this position will provide a variety of administrative services.

Your excellent client service skills will be used as you provide an essential role for staff and the public, and you will exhibit a high degree of flexibility in the types of work you deliver.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, receptiveness to new challenges, analytical and critical thinking, organization, attention to detail, and ability to interpret instructions are required. As there can be a high degree of independence within this position, you require the ability to make decisions on your own and contribute within a team environment to support programs encompassed within Environment and Parks as well as under service agreements with Forestry and the Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Branch.

ABOUT YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT:
In this role, you will be primarily working in an office setting. You will have regular and on-going contact with external and internal clients: members of the public, contractors, regional and other departmental staff, and representatives from other Ministries. Seasonal travel/off site work in support of wildfires may be available/required.

The roles/positions may include preparing, reviewing and formatting authorizations, legal documents, letters and memos; some basic financial and human resource support work; tracking information in databases and SharePoint sites, and records management in both electronic and paper based systems. The positions may play a role in front counter support by issuing licences and permits, answering and directing phone calls and preparing banking/cash reconciliations.

Qualifications

High school diploma and a minimum two years’ related administrative experience is required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook) is required. Demonstrated experience in working with multiple priorities, excellent communication and organizational skills are essential to be successful in this position. A valid class 5 drivers license is required.

Assets would include knowledge of GoA policies and procedures and various government programs (ECM, ERKS, CARS2, LIS/RELM, Exclaim, EPS and ARI) as well as experience dealing with the public and stakeholders. Experience and/or willingness to learn in support of the wildfire program and handling furs are also assets and may be required in some locations.

Equivalencies will be considered. Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower level and salary.

Salary

$1,691.44 to $2,066.65 bi-weekly ($44,146 to $53,939 per annum)

Notes

There are 4 permanent full-time positions available: 1 in Grande Prairie, 2 in Slave Lake, 1 in Peace River. There is 1 permanent part-time position available in Fairview at 80% (4 days/week). Please specify your preferred location in your cover letter.

This competition may be used to fill a number of current and future vacancies at an equivalent or lower level in various Ministries throughout the Government of Alberta.

The positions will be eligible for the 55th to 57th Parallel Retention Allowance .
