Position Summary:

Installs, modifies and does minor repairs on client machines and provides Level 2 technical support to internal customers utilizing Gordon Food Service (GFS) technology products. Works and collaborates with other Field Support technicians across Canada and travels a couple of times a year as needed to other Canadian facilities.

Serves as liaison to Divisional Leadership and North American IT during major system outages or facility problems.

Essential Functions:

  • Installs new software, hardware and peripheral components, such as monitors, keyboards, and printers for customers. following defined processes or installation specifications
  • Responds to client’s inquiries concerning systems operations, including diagnosing system hardware, software, and operator problems
  • Recommends or performs remedial actions to correct problems based on knowledge of system operation
  • Provides hardware support, limited to simple diagnostic troubleshooting of printers, warehouse and transportation handheld devices and the ability to utilize 2nd level support and/or vendors for repairs
  • Coordinates divisional resources for North American project deployments
  • Escalates divisional outages or impairments using defined communication process and procedures
  • Serves as secondary division liaison in information systems management initiatives
  • Provides second line of support to internal customers. Provides solutions to hardware and software issues
  • Maintains appropriate technology spare pool
  • Enforces divisional compliance of GFS North American technology standards
  • Maintains peer relationships in the field to share issues and ideas
  • Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Equipment / Tools / Technology:

  • Knowledge of spreadsheet, word processing, presentation, email and internet software applications.
  • Must have knowledge of Window 7 and 10 with basic networking skills

Educational & Experience Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in Computer Science/Computer Information Systems or equivalent experience in a related field. Microsoft certification or CompTIA A+ certification. Network+ or MCSA preferred.
  • Three years previous personal computer and peripheral experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
