SENIOR BUSINESS ANALYST (BUSINESS REQUIREMENTS)

$76,775 – $96,435 per annum

PRESTO is an electronic fare system that allows transit users in the GTHA and Ottawa to use a Smart Card to move between and within transit systems. PRESTO will make transit travel easier and more convenient. PRESTO’s Business Requirements Office is seeking a Sr. Business Analyst to support business requirements gathering, analysis and documentation.

Key Responsibilities:
Developing a thorough understanding of the business goals, practices and processes to translate into system functionality and user-requirements that define project scope and specifications.
Translating high-level, conceptual business strategies and objectives into user-requirements to guide service development activities.
Partnering with business leaders to develop strategies for the application of technology and leading or participating in the development of business cases.
Leading the development of documentation for new and modified business policies and procedures (e.g. standard operating procedures (SOPs) and workflows) to ensure effective implementation of technology solutions.
Facilitating dialogue and discussion between the business and internal and external providers to assist with prioritizing between competing objectives (i.e. running meetings, focus groups, joint sessions, workshops).
Assisting the business and project teams to prepare business cases, understand scope limitations, and manage expectations during project implementation.
Proactively identifying opportunities for new technology/automation or streamlining of business processes and workflows.

Qualifications :
Post-secondary degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Process Improvement, or a related discipline – or a combination of education, training and experience deemed equivalent.
Minimum eight (8) years’ related experience as a Business Analyst, preferably in the transportation industry, and/or the public sector. Experience leading teams to successfully deploy technology solutions is an asset.
Experience with computerized quantitative and analytical tools (e.g. data modeling, workflows, and business process analysis) and with MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, PowerPoint, Project, etc.).
Strong interpersonal, oral/written/presentation communications skills to document and present business needs, specifications, reports, project documents, and implementation plans. To apply for this position, please submit your resume online, no later than February 1, 2015 .
