Job Description:
***We are hiring for one permanent and one contract
Assistant Buyer***

This position offers the successful candidate the chance
to work directly with Buyers and Vendors to help shape
the fashion collections found within Giant Tiger stores.
The ideal candidate will have a passion for the fashion
industry complemented by a business mindset. You will
work as part of the Softgoods Buying team to execute the
strategies involved to deliver a profitable assortment
for Giant Tiger stores by supporting Vendor Relations,
Sourcing & Negotiating, Inventory Management, Analysis,
Strategy Execution, Advertising, Productivity of Space,
and Store Brands.

Highlights:
*
Provide support to the Buyer on product lifecycle,
private label standards and vendor management;
*
Assist the Buyer to achieve milestones on critical
path calendar;
*
Assist in pre-production approvals and fitting;
*
Responsible for sample management and preparation;
*
Participate in vendor meetings and responsible for
follow-up actions;
*
Prepare assortment information and merchandising
plans;
*
Support Buyers in the preparation of Line Reviews;
*
Conduct weekly sales analysis;
*
Provide competition research;
*
Assist in the creation of weekly markdown
preparation and execution;
*
Maintain positive relationship with buying,
planning, vendors, warehouse and stores.

Job Requirements:
*
Minimum of 5 years of experience in a retail buying
office, with a focus on product lifecycle;
*
Post-secondary education in Fashion Design/Fashion
Marketing/Fashion Buying;
*
Excellent time-management and organizational skills;
*
Fundamental understanding of retail and business
math concepts;
*
Intermediate Microsoft Excel skills;
*
Strong analytical and research skills;
*
Strong communication skills;
*
Experience with JDA or similar software such as
AS400, an asset;
