THIS IS A CONTRACT (PART-TIME) POSITION. This position is scheduled for up to a maximum of 24 hours per week and the hours of work include days, evenings and weekends.
Reporting to the General Manager, the incumbent ensures the Centre is providing a clean, sanitized and well maintained appearance by performing specific cleaning duties in various areas including guest bed / bath rooms and common areas, providing daily guidance to the housekeeping staff, managing inventory control, and coordinating / providing resolutions for customer requests and concerns. Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
Duties and Responsibilities
- Cleaning, sanitizing and refreshing guest bedrooms and bathroom which includes, washing, wiping, vacuuming, dusting, making beds and changing bed linens and replacing guest room supplies
- Laundering towels (wash, dry, fold and stock)
- Cleaning, sanitizing and restocking public washrooms
- Cleaning, sanitizing floors, walls, stairs and stairwell areas
- Vacuuming public areas and hallways
- Dusting and polishing furniture, ledges, sills, etc.
- Refreshing meeting rooms during client breaks
- Restocking housekeeping supply rooms at the end of each shift
- Assisting with the recruitment and hiring of housekeeping staff and facilitating staff training
- Coordinating and liaising with front desk and conference department staff to fulfill guest requests and investigate complaints or concerns
- Preparing and assigning the regular daily work assignments as well as extra cleaning assignments for housekeeping staff
- Preparing, updating and monitoring monthly work schedules for housekeeping staff
- Conducting daily inspections and completing inspection checklists of the public areas and guestrooms
- Monitoring, tracking and managing inventory control of all housekeeping supplies including ensuring clean linen in all buildings
Qualifications
- Successfully completed a high school diploma
- Two years’ experience in a housekeeping position in a hotel or conference centre environment where duties included stocking and cleaning guest bed / bath rooms and common areas
- One year experience as a team lead where duties included assisting with recruitment, preparing schedules, assigning work tasks and facilitating training, conducting and completing inspections, and tracking / monitoring inventory
- Proven customer service skills to respond to and accommodate customers’ requests and resolve concerns or complaints
- Communication skills (oral and written) to communicate with staff and customers as well as prepare and coordinate inventory requests
- Organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize
- Must meet the physical demands of the position (i.e. bending, carrying lightweight supplies, linens, etc.)
- Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment
- Ability to work non-traditional hours is required as specified (days, evenings and weekends)
