Capital Power Corporation is seeking a hard working Power Engineer who has a safe work record and a proven ability to work cooperatively in a team environment at our Genesee Generating Station.
The Power Engineer is accountable for the control and monitoring of plant equipment in two 430 MW and one 511 MW (supercritical) coal fired boiler/turbine/generator units, coal handling and processing equipment, and ash handling equipment. You direct and assist with the control of unit loads and normalizing upset conditions, perform adjustments to plant units and auxiliaries, inspect assigned areas for proper and safe functioning of equipment, as well as assist in the development and revision of operating manuals. You participate in a unique training system where progression is based on training, demonstrated knowledge and performance. You rotate on a regular basis through all areas of the station based on readiness.
The successful candidate possesses a high school diploma and a Second (2nd) Class certificate. Further consideration will be given to those with a Third (3rd) Class certificate who have successfully completed a two-year Power Engineering Technology course from a recognized technical institute, or successful completion of an approved Second Class Power Engineering correspondence course, with a commitment to obtaining a Second Class Power Engineering certificate in a prescribed period of time.
Hours of Work: 12.0 hour rotating shifts; averaging 39.6 hours per week.

Wage: Starting wage $45.18 to $49.72
