Role Summary

The Data Technician is responsible for executing Operational activities in support of collecting and recording information in preparation for updating GDM’s pipeline network content. The ideal candidate will be comfortable supporting the Operations team by understanding and verifying the validity of source information and then inputting all relevant information into designated data repositories. Proactive communication, attention to detail and a desire to succeed in a dynamic organization are critical personal characteristics needed to succeed in this position.

This is a term contract position until July 31, 2017.

Responsibilities

Business

  • Sort, compile and prepare source information for computer entry and document scanning.
  • Convert unstructured documents in a variety of formats into spatial enabled information.
  • Manually enter required information into computer data repositories based on documented operational standards and ensure any information deficiencies are communicated to the Operations Coordinator.
  • Instill and maintain a collaborative relationship with the Operations Coordinator to ensure Operational procedures and standards are understood and effective.
  • Instill and maintain a collaborative relationship with the Data Analyst(s) to assist in Operational activities and projects.

Technical

  • Demonstrated experience reviewing information in preparation for data loading and document scanning.
  • Exposure to the use of mapping technologies to accurately represent the position of assets.
  • Comfortable engaging in a collaborative and continuous improvement team environment.
  • Adhere to operational procedures and standards with a focus on continuously improving efficiency.
  • Track commitments and report progress daily.
  • Comfortable engaging in a collaborative and continuous improvement team environment.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience compiling, reconciling and entering data.
  • Equivalent experience from training and/or education from a recognized institution will also be considered to meet minimum experience.
  • Strong computer skills, with a particular focus on Google Docs, MS Office and general understanding of web environments.
  • While not required, 2 years experience in oil and gas technical data management is nice to have.
  • While not required, exposure to ESRI ArcGIS and SWL is nice to have.
  • Demonstrated organizational and problem solving skill.
