The Role

Reporting directly to the VP Sales & Marketing, the Field Sales Representative will be responsible for generating new business through the identification and acquisition of new customers, lead generation activities and retail/industry networking in the assigned geographic territory. The appointee will be responsible for all business development efforts in Quebec and the Maritimes.

The primary objective of this position is to develop and sustain business relationships within the assigned sales territory, meeting or exceeding sales objectives through effective selling techniques and exceptional customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Sales/Territory Development

  • Establishes, develops and maintains business relationships with current and prospective customers in the assigned territory to generate new business for the company’s product offerings.
  • Makes telephone calls and in-person visits and prepares sales presentations to existing and prospective customers.
  • Researches available sources of information on sales leads to determine their potential.
  • Analyzes the sales performance of the assigned territory and determines the revenue potential for existing and prospective customers.
  • Works with the VP Sales & Marketing to prepare sales forecasts for the assigned territory taking into consideration historical sales volume, new product offerings, opportunities to expand existing order volume and strong sales leads.
  • Implements marketing initiatives for the assigned territory.
  • Develops and implements sales strategies to increase market penetration and develop new market opportunities.
  • Increases market share by identifying growth areas, increasing the breadth and depth of Fulton Sales distribution, and opening new accounts.
  • Delivers on agreed-upon KPIs and sales targets.
  • Actively pursues leads through a variety of channels including cold calling.
  • Communicates sales activity and pipeline forecasts.
  • Gathers and reports competitive intelligence, including competitor activities that may impact the company and its customers.
  • Utilizes and analyzes available customer information found on Brandwise/Showroom Elite, QuickBooks in order to effectively respond to customer inquiries.
  • Performs specific merchandising activities including:
  • Managing/helping manage customer inventory
  • Supplying and providing merchandising material
  • Training retail staff on product features
  • Expedites resolution of customer issues.
  • Supports the Accounting section regarding collections.
  • Represents Fulton Sales at customer events and trade shows with a view to identifying and securing prospective/new accounts.

Sales Reporting

  • Maintains accurate records of all sales and prospecting activities including sales calls, presentations, closed sales and follow-up activities.
  • Reports sales results and summary of significant customer transaction/events to management.
  • Updates contact data on existing clients in Brandwise.
  • Communicates sales pipeline and updates the CRM database to ensure the sales pipeline is current.
  • Prepares a monthly call plan and reports on progress regularly.

Marketing

  • Provides the full range of merchandising support to all retailers including brochures, order forms, samples, etc.
  • Works with the Marketing section to implement marketing campaigns in the assigned sales territory.

Qualifications

Essential

  • Minimum 2 years B2B sales experience ideally gained in the retail and/or fashion industries in the Quebec market;
  • Proven track record of delivering or exceeding aggressive sales targets;
  • Post-secondary education;
  • Fully bi-lingual – French and English;
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications and CRM systems;
  • Analytical skills and ability to prepare and utilize sales reports to support the business development efforts;
  • Sound business acumen and entrepreneurial mindset;
  • Strong organizational and time management skills;
  • Demonstrated aptitude for problem solving and ability to handle customer issues using a consultative sales approach;
  • Results-orientated and able to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Must have a valid driver licence and access to own transportation and be able to travel within the territory. Travel required: 20%

Desirable

  • Previous experience in children’s apparel, footwear and accessories markets.
  • Knowledge and experience in using Brandwise/Showroom Elite CRM system.
