Free The Children seeks a Donor Engagement Coordinator to join our team on a four month contract (August to December). The ideal candidate will have an interest in fundraising and donor stewardship, be extremely detailed-oriented and have an affinity for information management and project coordination. The Donor Engagement Coordinator will be responsible for supporting a portfolio of leadership and annual donors who give at the $1,000-$10,000 range. The position is based out of Free The Children’s International office in Toronto (233 Carlton Street). A minimum two-year commitment is expected. There is a three (3) month probationary period, upon reaching the three (3) month period, all staff members are offered a health plan including dental and Employee Assistant Program. Responsibilities: Donor Retention & Engagement

• Respond to general donor inquiries, maintaining a high standard of donor satisfaction through prompt and effective problem-solving
• Retain existing donor relationships through ongoing reporting and engagement
• Conduct research and build understanding of donors within your portfolio
• Work to upsell donors, providing opportunities at higher giving levels where appropriate
• Act as a hub of information, coordination and support to the team’s donor relationship managers
• Assist in coordinating the monthly donor program, including overall program administration as well as strategic outreach and honouring
• Engage general donors in targeted opportunities and campaigns throughout the year, providing support as needed

Honouring & Stewardship

• Prepare donor updates and detailed reports, connecting them to the programs and projects they have supported
• Coordinate donor engagement events to further engage donors and/or prospects
• Coordinate donor thank you’s and other honouring activities as needed

Donor Recruitment

• Support collaborations with other departments by designing and maintaining interdepartmental donor referral systems
• Attend and represent the organization at fundraising and networking events, occasionally in a public speaking role

Administration

• Work closely with the donor services team to ensure smooth processes and accountability
• Carry out a variety of administrative responsibilities related to donor management, including diligent maintenance of donor records
• Using donor database reporting functions, prepare financial and other reports for senior leadership
• Perform quality assurance for donor information in the database, as well as for financial information

Reporting and Relationships

• The Donor Engagement Coordinator reports directly to Associate Director of Donor Engagement
• Reports to the Director of Donor Engagement, Executive Director and Co-founders on an as-needed basis
• This role is expected to be collaborative with numerous departments within the organization, developing opportunities on behalf of the team

Requirements:

• Post-secondary education
• 1-3 years professional work experience in a fundraising role, or related field
• Excellent administrative, communication and inter-personal skills
• Proficiency with project management and process development
• Strong professional writing skills (i.e. correspondence and reports)
• Proven ability to take initiative and remain solution driven
• Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
• Positive and energetic
• Affinity for public speaking, with willingness to develop skill set
• Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a larger team
• Experience working with basic word processing and financial software (e.g., Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, SalesForce)
• Valid driver’s license an asset
