Fraserside Community Services Society invites applications for the following position:

Job Title: SENIOR SUPPORT WORKER- Full Time
Program: PETERSON PLACE – SURREY
Classification: STANDARD GRID LEVEL 12 RESIDENCE WORKER SENIOR
Rate of Pay: $22.73 per hour and increments in accordance with the terms of the Collective Agreement

JOB SUMMARY:
Assist the Program Supervisor in maintaining and managing the site, providing guidance and feedback to all Support
Workers; Ensure that all residents have access to support services that are identified in each Individual Service Plan and
provide follow up and documentation in CAMS (electronic case management system); Assist the Program Supervisor in
scheduling and performing resident intakes, organizing meetings and reviewing applications for residency; Provide
support and guidance to all residents so that they may retain their housing and improve their quality of life; Act as the key
worker who communicates with referring agencies; Provide support and direction to staff with regard to resident progress
and resident need.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: 

Minimum Certificate in a related human service field and two years recent experience working with people with a
mental health needs and substance use issues in a multi-unit housing setting; or an equivalent combination of
education, training and experience 

Demonstrated ability to be responsive and respectful to residents with complex needs and behavior that
challenges the service using boundaries and self-awareness skills 

Demonstrated ability to work with residents who engage in high risk activities using a harm reduction philosophy 

Strong understanding of oppression and marginalization, specifically related to people living with mental health
and substance use issues; Sound knowledge of established and emerging practices for urban populations with
complex needs related to mental health, substance use and homelessness 

Knowledge of the Residential Tenancy Act and basic facilities maintenance experience desirable but not essential 

Ability to provide supervision and cooperation in the delivery of support services to adults residing in multi-unit
housing 

Possess the necessary skills to guide, motivate, foster team work and provide appropriate positive role modeling
for residents and Support Workers 

Proven ability to communicate in a manner that promotes positive working relationships with residents, co-
workers, community partners, community members and stakeholders 

Demonstrated ability and commitment to working effectively with diverse populations 

Valid First Aid/CPR and NVCI (Non Violent Crisis Intervention) certification 

Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and data entry are essential and familiarity with an electronic case
management system is preferred 

Successful Criminal Record Check

PRESENT HOURS OF WORK:
40 hours per week, Monday- Friday 4:00 pm to 12:00 am; to ensure service needs are met, flexibility is required.
