About the Opportunity
Foremost has an immediate opening for a full-time Apprentice Welder located at our facility in Stettler, Alberta. This position includes, but is not limited to: production welding, service & repair welding, prototype and fixture building, and routine equipment maintenance. Responsibilities will include fabrication of welded assemblies and structural components, inventory control and material accountability, equipment maintenance and general housekeeping, and other duties as required, while maintaining compliance with safety and legislative standards in a high-paced production environment.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Read and interpret blueprints or welding process specifications
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding: gas metal arc welding (GMAW), flux-cored arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) and other trade related processes and tools
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic flame-cutting equipment
  • Operate metal shaping machines such as brakes, shears and other metal straightening and bending machines
  • Monitor parts usage and report on any material issues
  • Development of Trade related skills through training, mentorship, and direct supervision
  • Review blueprints and specifications; ensure drawings and specifications will function as designed in environment intended for use
  • Ensure accuracy and completion of assigned tasks and projects
  • Perform general maintenance on trade related equipment and tools
  • Ensure compliance with Industry, Legislative, and corporate Safety Standards and policies
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Trade related experience or formal training
  • Highly flexible, with solid interpersonal skills and able to work effectively in a diverse, fast-paced working environment
