Marketing Assistant (one-year term)

Do you find yourself thinking about food all day? Do you have a passion for a variety of “local” food? Are you creative, organized with experience in marketing? Do you want to be involved in assisting Manitoba food companies with growing their business? If so, consider the position of Marketing Assistant with Food & Beverage Manitoba (FABMB).

FABMB is currently looking for an outgoing, vibrant and creative individual with a passion for all foods to become part of the Market Development team. We are a not-for-profit, industry-led association dedicated to promoting Manitoba’s vibrant food and beverage industry, and ensuring our members have the resources, strength and conditions they need to succeed.

With the overall goal of getting Manitoba Made foods onto the plates of Manitoban, Canadian and global consumers, the Market Development department assists FABMB members in building their capacity and growing to their full potential in the marketplace. We introduce Manitoba Made products to retailers and food service providers through one-on-one consultations and through cooperative events that boost members’ chances of catching the attention of potential customers and partners.

Reporting to the Market Development Manager, the Marketing Assistant will assist in day-to-day tasks which support capacity building with our members. As the successful candidate, you will be motivated, enthusiastic and an effective communicator with the ability to work as part of team as well as independently.

  • Passionate about “local” food and a desire to promote the Manitoba food industry

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist with the development and implementation of marketing/communications programs strategies and initiatives
  • Research, develop and write content for company and product profiles, publications and reports
  • Work with MS Office applications, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and Power Point
  • Work with creative software programs, including newsletter builders and Photoshop (Adobe Creative Suite an asset)


  • Post-secondary education in marketing, creative communications, or a related field and 1-3 years of marketing experience, or
  • An equivalent combination of education, training and experience
  • Working knowledge of Manitoba’s food processing and agriculture industry
  • Experience working with a not-for-profit organization and membership association an asset
  • Experience with Adobe Creative Suite including Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator is an asset
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and have access to a reliable vehicle as some travel may be required.
